Ivan Belvis is one of the top producers and sound engineers in the music business who possesses a set of multiple skills that sets him apart from most other colleagues. First of all, he is a musician who began music studies at an early age concentrating on percussion, guitar, piano and trumpet. Then at the University of Puerto Rico he was a communications major with a minor in Audio Production.
He began working as a sound engineer in the late 90s and within a few years became well known in Puerto Rico as a gifted recording engineer among salsa, merengue and Spanish rap artists. In 2014 he opened his own major studio in San Juan and now has an impressive list of clients including Sony Music and Universal Music. Some of the well known local and international artists he has recorded are Gilberto Santa Rosa, Olga Tañón, Diego El Cigala, Glenn Monroig, Humberto Ramírez, Kany García, Pablo López, Pirulo y La Tribu, Michael Stuart, Carli Muñoz and Charlie Aponte just to name a few.
The year 2017 was an extraordinary year for Ivan who received 3 Latin Grammy nominations and won as the Recording and Mixing Engineer for Best Tropical Fusion Album by Olga Tañón. In 2018 he worked as co-scoring engineer for composer Pepe Ojeda who composed the music score for the 2018 movie Replicas starring Keanu Reeves. In 2019 we were blessed to have Ivan recommended to us by long time former Beach Boys keyboardist Carli Muñoz. This recording would not have happened without Ivan’s artistry in the studio. He understood what we wanted from a live recording and made it sound like a studio recording as we requested. The end product was far beyond what we could’ve dreamed for.
